Charles C. McLean holds successful Jump Rope For Heart fundraising event

GORE BAY—There was a lot of jumping going on at Charles C. McLean Elementary School in Gore Bay last Friday.

Grade 3-6 students at the school had been gearing up for the past few weeks for their participation in the Jump Rope For Heart event to get in shape and raise funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

“We had a total of 45 kids in Grades 3 to 6 participating,” said C.C. McLean teacher April Patterson who, along with fellow teacher Robyn Best, were the teacher leaders for the program this year. “Each of the students spent a total of five hours and 20 minutes over the three weeks we have been practicing-to today’s actual jump rope event,” said Ms. Patterson.

The funds raised by the students from the Jump Rope for Heart event go to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The 45 students raised a total of $4,475.59. The top three student fundraisers included Ethan Witty, Landon Seifried and Jazmin Colwell.
