Champions crowned at Manitoulin Golf senior golf tournament

GORDON—Some impressive scores were posted as the Manitoulin Golf annual seniors’ tournament took place on Wednesday of last week.

In the mixed division, the team of Denis and Cheryl Audette took first place with an 18-hole score of four under par 68. Stewart Simpson and Sheila Bray finished in second place.

The men’s division saw play in two different divisions. The Barry Wall and Moray Watson team took top spot in one division with a one under par score of 71. Finishing in second was the team of Dan Smith and Jack Clark. In the second men’s division, taking top spot was the Brian Bainborough and Jack Maskel team, who edged out the team made up of Bill Lloyd and Cam McLeod.

The Sherri Marois and Laurie Beaudin team took first place in the ladies’ division with a score of 90. Finishing in second was Sharon MacDonald and Gail Zavitz.

The tournament drew a total of 56 players (28 teams of two players).

Cheryl Deeg, clubhouse manager, said at the awards ceremony, “Thank you everyone for coming out to take part in this tournament. She also thanked the kitchen and bar staff and the course grounds crew for all their hard work, along with the volunteer help provided by Dan Marois.
