Champions crowned at annual mixed team tournament held at Manitoulin Golf

GORDON/BARRIE ISLAND – The team of Cheryl and Dennis Audette are the champions of the first flight of the annual mixed team format golf tournament held at the Manitoulin Golf course earlier this month. 

The Cheryl and Denis Audette team posted a two-day 36-hole total score of 145 (75-70) to take first place by seven strokes over the  Mike and Barb Martell team who posted a total score of 152 (78-74) to finish second.

“First of all I we would like to thank everyone for coming out to play this weekend,” said Dan Marois, master of ceremonies at the awards ceremony.

“We would like to thank Dave (Carr) and Arthur (Pummell) and the course grounds crew for having the course in such great shape,” said Mr. Marois. “Thank you to Myrna (Thomas) and her kitchen staff for all their food and hospitality during the weekend.”

Several special awards were handed out, included the closest to the pin for the ladies on Sunday, which was won by Jenny Gauthier and on the men’s side Stephane Corbiere. The award for the longest drive, ladies, was won by Annette McDonald and the prize for longest drive in the men’s division was won by Dave Parcher.

Taking first place in the first flight division was the team of Todd and Maggie Mazzucca who posted a 36-hole score of 154, with James Beaudin and Lauren second with 156. 

The Kelly and Launa Abottosaway team took first place in the second flight with a score of 163. Placing second was the team of Meri Bolander and Denis Poitras.
