Central marks Community Living Month

MINDEMOYA—The municipality of Central Manitoulin took part in Community Living Month celebrations last week.

On May 6 Community Living Manitoulin (CLM) was supported by the municipality of Central Manitoulin to raise their flag to acknowledge May as CLM Month. Community Living Month is a province-wide annual awareness campaign to recognize the accomplishments of the community living movement. There was a great turnout for the celebration.

The flag will fly for the entire month of May at the Central Manitoulin office. Municipal staff employees Alison Sloss and Marcus Mohr were present to acknowledge CLM staff and individuals for everything they have done for the municipality. The flag was raised by John Hopkins, long-time resident of CLM within its supported independent living program.

CLM Executive Director Adrienne Farquhar-Kuula was ecstatic about the number of people that came out to participate in the flag raising. “The staff and individuals of CLM and of all other Community Livings province-wide deserve to be acknowledged for all that they do. I am so thankful to the municipality of Central Manitoulin for joining us in this celebration and having our flag fly high for the month of May.”

Ms. Farquhar-Kuula said CLM will be planning activities and events throughout the month of May.
