Carter Bay sold to Blue Goose Company

CENTRAL MANITOULIN—The Carter Bay and Deer Trail Cabins property has now been sold, with the sale having closed last Friday.

The 6,400 acres of property, which includes 17 kilometres of water frontage along the Manitoulin Island southern shore, has been acquired by Blue Goose Capital Corp. The property had been listed for sale at $3.75 million.

Kevin Reed, president and CEO of Blue Goose confirmed on Tuesday, “we did purchase the property.” He would not disclose the purchase price for the property.

Mr. Reed explained, “we don’t know what we are going to be doing with the property yet, we will be coming up with and developing a plan within the next year. We love Manitoulin Island and have invested a tremendous amount in agriculture on Manitoulin and expect the (Carter Bay) property will be agriculture.”

“Everything just came into place for us to purchase the property,” Mr. Reed told the Recorder. “And throughout the year we will be putting together a plan for the property, talking to local residents and members of council towards this. This is a beautiful area and we love Manitoulin Island,” he added.
