C.C. McLean hosts annual primary division track and field championships

GORE BAY—To say there are some future track and field stars in the making at Charles C. McLean Public School is a huge understatement, as testament to the results shown during the school’s annual primary grade track and field championships last week.

In the girls’ six-year-old division, Joey Ruyter took first place with a total of 20 points, followed by Brynn Best in second with 12 points and Bella Beckett third with six points. On the boys’ side Ronan Bentley garnered 21 points to take top spot. He was followed by Michael Harper and Jack Hartin in second and third with nine and four points, respectively.

The seven-year-old girls’ division saw Tegan Oliver in first place with 14 points followed closely by Niomi Tomaselli of Sheshegwaning second with 11 points. Shae Dickson was third with a total of 7.50 points. On the boys’ side Lucas Laquerre was first with 19 points, Jeffery Harper second with 13 and Tristin Cyr of Sheshegwaning third with five points.

The eight-year-old girls’ division saw Fia Flanagan take first place with 23 points. She was followed by Lily Cunningham in second with 11 points. There was a two-way tie for third place with Naiema Joseph and Lily Main with five points each. Jackson Chevrette and Ethan Witty led the way in the boys’ division, both garnering 18 points each to tie for first place. Finishing third was Kyle Nodecker with six points.
