C.C. McLean Colts going strong!

by Rachael Orford

Does it feel like spring to you yet? We get to say “Hello” to April tomorrow! Hopefully April showers will bring May flowers! Or will it be an April fool joke?

To end the first week back to school after the March Break last Thursday and Friday, the students had a pizza day! Everyone that ordered pizza got to enjoy a yummy lunch. I was going to tell you a joke about pizza, but it would be way too cheesy! But what is up a pizza anyway? Square box, round pizza, triangle slices? It is better at Geometry then I am!

Now we are going to travel all the way back in time to November when students made posters, wrote wonderful pieces of poetry and put their feelings about Remembrance Day onto a piece of paper in the form of an essay. Students who placed 1st at the Western Manitoulin Branch 514 Poster and Literary Contest in Gore Bay moved on to the next level of competition in the Zone H3 Contest (Greater Sudbury). I am overjoyed to say that five students placed in the top 3 in their divisions in the Zone H3 contest! In the Primary poster division (black and white, and colour posters) both Brynn Best and Merissa McQuarrie placed 1st. In the Junior division, Jenna Shank placed 1st with her essay, and Jazmin Colwell placed 3rd with her poem. Then in the Intermediate division, Rachael Orford placed 2nd with her poem.

I hope everyone smiled real big for the camera this week. It was picture day! The Grade 8s got their Graduation photos taken as well.

I am starting something new. It is joke of the week!

The joke for this week is: How many peas are in a pint?

The answer is: There is only one “P” in a pint. I hope you didn’t do too much math.

Upcoming events include Jump Rope for Heart Kick-off Day and Autism Awareness Day.

Until next time, “Dream and Believe. Learn and Achieve!”
