Burns Wharf brings ‘The Addams Family’ to Manitoulin Island!

M’CHIGEENG—A boisterously ghoulish and fun romp, ‘The Addams Family’ is the most ambitious show by the Burns Wharf Theatre Players in its 16 years of putting on great musical theatre, according to show producer Lynn Dee Sproule.

With 22 scene changes, an equal number of songs and a cast of 19, crew of 15 and a lot of makeup!

Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family—a man her parents have never met. And if that isn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Uncle Fester, smitten by his own paramour, enlists the help of Addams Family ancestors to intervene. Poor beleaguered Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before—keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia.

Hilarity ensues as everything changes for the whole family on the fateful night The Addams host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

The musical runs from Friday, May 24 until Sunday, June 16 at Manitoulin Secondary School in M’Chigeeng. There are 10 shows, five evening performances and five matinées. Tickets are $25 and are available at www.burnswharf.net and at the door.

Readers who live off-Island can take advantage of deals offered to Addams Family ticketholders by The Inn at Gore Bay and the Manitoulin Motel in Little Current. Details on the BWTP website.

Please note the show has a PG-13 rating and there are flashing lights.
