BRUCE WAYNE O’BRIEN
March 27, 1941 – January 25, 2024
Bruce Wayne O’Brien, formerly of Manitowaning, Ontario, fifth child born of Elva Vivian McGillis and Burton Stacel O’Brien, nearing his 83rd birthday in March, passed away with loving family at his bedside on January 25, 2024. He was predeceased by his brothers Harold and Neil, and sisters Maxine and Judy. He is survived by his sister Rosemarie; wife Sandra of 60 years; two sons, a daughter, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Wayne was known for his sarcastic sense of humour and was a jack of all trades. He built two houses, owned a well drilling company, worked as an owner/operator overland truck driver and multiple other careers. He played bagpipes as part of the Toronto Scottish Pipes and Drums in the early 1960’s. He was a dependable, kind, generous, patient man. A loving husband and father and a good friend to so many. He loved his dogs and enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, playing Euchre, watching hockey and war movies. He especially delighted in humorous give and takes with friends and family and just being ‘home’ in the woods and lakes of the Manitoulin Island where he grew up. The world is a smaller place and none of us would be who we are without him. He will be sadly missed by all. A memorial service and interment of ashes to be held at the Cold Springs Cemetery May 26, 2024 at 1 pm with a reception in the Rockville Community Centre at 2 pm.
