In memory of Brenda Mary Agnes Mejaki-Wabi (Minominee Kwe), who started her spiritual journey at the Sudbury Regional Hospital on Friday, May 27, 2011 at the age of 63, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Beloved mother of Monica Mejaki of Peterborough, Patsy Mejaki and Tahno Wabie of Wikwemikong, Aprile Wabie (Dennis Cote) of Winneway and Cara McGregor (Bruce Visitor) of Birch Island. Cherished grandmother of Christopher, Lanelle, Kevin, Wynona, Jenna, Brandon, Joshua and Renee. Godmother of Mary-Ann, Joey-Lynn, Ethan, Craig and Amaya. Dear sister of Urban (Marina), Raymond, Wilfred (Marie), Bruce, George (Carrie) and Craig (Amy). Survived by Aunties Jane Pangowish, Susan Trudeau and Uncle Alex Trudeau. Grandaughter of the late Elizabeth (nee Mejaki) (Angus Trudeau). Daughter of the late Edna (Ambrose Trudeau) and sister of the late Theodore and Neil Trudeau. Niece of the late Josephine (Jerry Bondy), Rosalina (Steven Murray), Victoria (Alex Manitowabi) and Merence Trudeau. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers. Resting at St. Ignatius Church, Buzwah on Tuesday, May 31 at 4 pm. Family visitation from 4 pm to 7 pm. Relatives and friends are invited for visitation thereafter. The funeral Mass to celebrate Brenda’s life will be at Holy Cross Mission Church, Wikwemikong on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 11 am with Father Doug McCarthy officiating. Cremation to follow. Brenda was an employee of the Wikwemikong Band at the Island Claims Office and worked with the Amikook Elders Centre, Foster Parent for Kina Gbezhgomi Child and Family Services, Union of Ontario Indians, Long Point First Nation as Band Manager, Administrative Assistant at Amo Ososwan School, Winneway, Qc. She loved playing bingo, taking part in culturally orientated activities such as water walk, games and promoting our language, passionate in supporting native women issues and loved being with her family.
