SUDBURY— Rainbow District School Board ( RDSB ) is currently seeking input on two important documents that will guide accommodation reviews–the revised Student Accommodation policy and the revised Community Planning and Facilities Partnerships administrative procedure. A draft of both documents is available on the Board’s website at rainbowschools.ca.

“We are updating our policy and administrative procedure to reflect new guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education in March 2015,” said Rainbow District School Board Chair Doreen Dewar. “We invite our School Councils, Board committees, unions, municipalities, community partners and members of the public in Sudbury, Espanola, Manitoulin and Shining Tree to review the documents and provide input.”

The Student Accommodation policy outlines the process and timelines for accommodation reviews that may be initiated when board decisions require the consolidation, closure, or relocation of a program or school due to changes in program demands, student enrolment, community demographics, capital needs of the school and other factors.

The Community Planning and Facilities Partnerships administrative procedure provides guidelines for consultation to share facilities with community partners when building new schools, undertaking significant additions and/or renovations, or considering the use of underutilized space in schools.

Input is being received until Monday, November 9, 2015.
