Blown tire response highlights Manitoulin hospitality

To the Expositor:

This letter is to let everyone in the Manitoulin community know about a situation that we experienced in your area.

While staying at the Buckhorn Motel in South Baymouth for an anniversary gathering, we experienced car trouble. We had a blown out tire 15 kms from the motel on Sunday evening. Without hesitation, Ameal (Leduc, proprietor) came to pick us up. The next morning he spent his time trying to get a new tire and organizing how and where it could be fixed. It was a Smart car, which made the task a lot more challenging due to their unique design. At this point, we would also like to thank Earl and Perry from Kellers’ garage in Mindemoya for all of their efforts in getting us back on the road as quickly as they could.

The whole experience could have been so much worse had it not been for Cathy and Ameal from the motel. Generosity and kindness are not always apparent in our modern society. Both the Buckhorn Motel and Kellers’ Garage made the Island proud.

We look forward to our next visit.

Sincerely,

Rick and Pauline Whyte

St. Catharines
