Bev McDermid rink wins Mindemoya Curling Club ladies’ bonspiel

MINDEMOYA—The Bev McDermid rink has won the annual Mindemoya Curling Club ladies’ bonspiel held this past weekend in Mindemoya.

Ms. McDermid’s rink also included Joan Sheppard, Cathy King and Bev Carrick. They defeated the Tammy Rolston rink in the first event finals. The Rolston rink included Margo Bickell, Dawn Wahl and Mandy Case.

For their efforts, the McDermid rink won the Joanne Lanktree Memorial trophy. The trophy was presented by members of the Lanktree family, including Lew Lanktree, Sue Whynott and Sherri Forest.

The second event was won by the Kim Orford rink of Gore Bay. This rink included Cathy Case, Mary-Lea Buchan and Barbara Armstrong. Bob Smith presented this rink with the Anne Smith Memorial Sunshine Award. 

Runner-up in the second event was the Marylin Proulx rink, which also included Daphne Keller, Deborah Karn and Karen McDougall.

In the third event, the Susan Whynott rink, made up of Paula Fields, Leslie Marshall and Wendy Niven, won the final game. They defeated the Ashleigh Keller team, which included Robin Burridge, Nat Hastings and Kayla Karn.
