BETTY NOREEN RUMLEY

July 29, 1927 – October 23, 2011
In loving memory of Betty Rumley, a resident of the Wikwemikong Nursing Home, who died at the Manitoulin Health Centre, Little Current on Sunday, October 23, 2011. Betty was born at Silver Water, daughter of the late Bert and Lauretta (Williams) Cook. In her earlier years, she had taken a business course in Hamilton and had worked at Waggs in Mindemoya and at other places on Manitoulin. Betty had a variety of interests, which included knitting and reading. She was very active in her community, helping at any dinner or event that took place. She was active in St. Andrew’s United Church, being treasurer for many years and teaching Sunday School. Betty was a life member of the UCW. She had also been the Recorder correspondent for over 50 years and was on the board of the Hospital for many years. Betty will be sadly missed by family friends and her community. Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frederic Rumley, on March 19, 1998. Loving and loved mother of Thomas and his wife Linda of Lively. Proud grandmother of Amy Popowich, and her husband Michael and Kevin Rumley, all of Lively. Dear sister of Jean Addison (Arthur) of Silver Water and brother-in-law Jack Ward of Oakville. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by granddaughter Allison, brother-in-law Harold Rumley and his wife Verna and sister-in-law Lillian Ward. She will be missed by her dear friends Marie Vollick of Silver Water and Goldie Duxbury of Wikwemikong. Friends called at the Culgin Funeral Home after 7 pm on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. The funeral service to celebrate Betty’s life will be conducted at St. Andrew’s United Church, Silver Water, on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 11 am with Pastor Erwin Thompson officiating.
