Benjamin (Benny) Walter Puchek passed peacefully at Health Sciences North surrounded by his loving family, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Beloved son of Doris and John Kowalchuck, and Mark Puchek all predeceased. Cherished husband of 60 wonderful years to Blossom (Moggy). Loving brother to Francis Demchuck and husband George. Loving father to Deb Johnston and husband Jim, Kim Puchek and husband Pete, and Shelley Johnston and husband Dave. A phenomenal Didi to all of his little Jigger Jaggers; Laura and husband Dan, Sarah, Ben Jr. and loving friend Kelly, Jamie and loving friend Steve, David, and a Great Didi to Nicholas. Didi always lived life to the fullest, making the most of every day. If you ever needed anything fixed or something built Didi would get ‘er done. He was a well accomplished wood worker, wood carver, gardener and landscaper; among many others. He certainly enjoyed spending time at the camp on Lake Manitou, as well as at his hunt camp with the boys. His most cherished time was spent with his family who he could never get enough of. He was the most loving, caring, and compassionate individual and will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. We thank you Didi for all the good times, for all the laughs, but mostly for always being you. A special thank you to the earth angels that cared for and looked after Didi throughout his fight; we are forever grateful to Dr. Sawkiw, Dr. Luison, Dr. Bora, Nurse Ashley and most of all Nurse Jack. At Benny’s request there will not be a visitation or service, but instead a celebration of his life will be held at the family home on Saturday, September 15, 2012 anytime after 1 pm. Donations to the NCF-Cancer Center would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
