Barrie Island resident still without hydro four weeks later

GORDON/BARRIE ISLAND—A Gordon/Barrie Island woman who has had no hydro at her home for over four weeks is hopeful of getting the power turned back on by Christmas.

“The good news is that an inspector from Hydro One was out yesterday, he paused on passing inspection at first (of the new hydro poles and wires) and said I would have to make a couple of changes, which are being made, and then my hydro will be hooked up again and I will have power,” said Gloria Hall last Friday.

“No, I still don’t have any hydro, but hopefully (this weekend) I will have hydro just before Christmas,” said Ms. Hall.

As reported in last week’s edition of the Recorder, hydro at Ms. Hall’s house has been out when a big storm hit the area on November 18 and caused power outages across the Island and throughout the province. The power went out at her residence at about 2 am when two hydro poles broke off in her yard.

Ms. Hall has been staying at her parents while she awaits power to be restored at her home; the new hydro poles and lines were finally put up two weeks ago.

“I am so thankful to everyone for having done everything they can to help me out during all of this,” said Ms. Hall. “A big thank you to my parents and my friends who have been so supportive.”
