A special thank you to our faithful auxiliary members for their contribution to the success of our recent events. Our downtown fall harvest sale in early October and our recent silent auction and book sale went well. Contributions of baking, knitting, crafts and the colourful freshly harvested garden items were snapped up in short order at our harvest sale. It was a beautiful fall morning, which was appreciated by our volunteers.
Our local retail merchants and service providers were very generous in their donations to our silent auction. We were well received by everyone and we wish to thank all the businesses that contributed to our cause. It was a wet day but it did not deter many locals who took the opportunity for some early Christmas shopping. There were fair bids on all items that helped to make this event a financial success also. A special thank you to auxiliary members Doug Hore and Maurice Labelle who provided a few hours of entertainment. They are always available to help any community effort.
Our fall book sales have begun again. The October 26 sale did well considering the wet day. There is another sale scheduled for December 14. We have quite a selection of books for your winter reading.
We will be participating in the Christmas Fair November 30. There is a new supply of stained glass Christmas tree and window ornaments we have available for you to purchase in memory of a deceased family member or friend. They are also popular as gifts and stocking stuffers. You will take home the ornament and we will recognize your loved ones on our Christmas memory tree that is in the hospital registration area every Christmas season. We have some new designs this year to add to our regulars. The prices on the usual size are $6 while some of the new and bigger designs will be $10.
The annual cookie walk will again be held the same day as the Christmas Fair across the street at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, allowing you to take in both events on the same outing. Get your Christmas baking and support your hospital auxiliary at the same time. If you don’t receive a call from Debbie or June for your contributions of baking, please call June at 705-368-3654.
In cooperation with the hospital board our auxiliary will be using the funds raised from our summer raffle along with those raised by the car club on our behalf to assist in the purchase of items for the diagnostic imaging department. Watch The Expositor for our official presentation. Our financial support will also continue for the Manitoulin Secondary School bursary program.
The auxiliary annual Christmas Dinner will be held this year at the Anchor Inn Hotel December 5. All auxiliary members are welcome to join us. If you are able to attend please contact Marilee Hore at 705-368-2547.
