The June dinner meeting was held at Green Acres. The turnout of members was excellent.
Usually, no business is conducted at the June meeting. However, a pressing matter that involves part of our contribution to enhance patient services had to be dealt with. Since 2010, the Auxiliary has been providing free TV to all patients. The cost of repairs per set is in the hundreds of dollars and currently eight are broken down. A motion was made and carried to purchase new TV sets at a cost of about $25,000. (All equipment has to be “hospital quality.”) We are now fundraising and are asking for donations. A tax receipt will be given for all donations over $10. Make all cheques payable to the Manitoulin Health Centre Auxiliary.
How to Contribute: Send a cheque to Marilee Hore at R.R.#1, Little Current; drop off a cheque in the Auxiliary mailbox at Admitting; make your donation in the TV FUND jug at the Tuck Cart Monday to Friday from 11 am to 1 pm. There will be a card to fill out with name, address and amount if you require a tax receipt. An envelope with your donation can also be left; the TV FUND jug will probably be at the Farmers’ Market on the dates we have our bake sales July 2, July 30 and September 3.
In the past, your generosity has enabled us to purchase all types of equipment and we ask for your support in the purchase of the TV sets to make the stay in hospital as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
More fundraisers will be discussed at the September meeting.
