ASSIGINACK—Summer Recreation in Manitowaning has something for everyone! This summer the Township of Assiginack has changed things up a bit. Programming for youth is now being offered at the museum and library by the summer students, and many other instructors have joined the team to offer some great activities to our youth.
There is weekly T-ball for the younger ones and softball for the teenagers. Community Safety Officer Steve Hart is running three sessions of off-road cycling at McLean’s Park in July. Larry Harasym is teaching a tennis camp at the end of July, and Gino Cacciotti is conducting a soccer camp in August for children. Weekly beach activities and Ultimate Frisbee are also on the summer schedule. Board games for youth in the evenings at the library are being introduced too. Head out to the waterfront this summer for Zumba with Casey Boisvert as well!
Assiginack’s popular swim lessons are back with three different choices of two week sessions to choose from. The fun bike challenge in August for kids to race and test their skills is back.
Adults/seniors have much to choose from as well with nature walks at McLean’s Park, a night of tea tasting on Thursday, July 7 with Becky Chisholm and sushi making with Christine McNaughton are on the menu. Welcome to tennis and evening cycling rides with Constable Steve Hart are also scheduled for fun in Assiginack. Local historian David Smith is doing two walk-abouts of Manitowaning’s history in July and August for all to enjoy. Following the youth fun, there is card night at the library for adults and two great sessions of Zumba at the waterfront!
