Art was born and grew up in Toronto, son of the late Charles and Jean Stevens. He showed a talent for electronics and in his younger years he owned an electronics repair shop. He later worked in the refinery industry, and finally settled in M’Chigeeng with his wife Eva in 1991. He loved the outdoors and loved to barbecue when he wasn’t building something or watching westerns on television. Art and Eva Debassige were together for over 40 years and she will miss him terribly. Dear father of Daina Stevens, Laura Suthers (Adam) and Shaun Stevens (Suzie). Grandpa to Emma and Spencer Suthers. Art will be remembered by his many brothers and sisters-in-law of the Debassige Clan and his many nieces and nephews. Friends may visit at Saswaahns Spiritual Centre on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 1 pm until time of the funeral mass on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 11 am at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, M’Chigeeng. Rev. Jim Kelly officiating. Interment in M’Chigeeng First Nation Cemetery.
