SAINT JOHN, NB—Samuel Assinewai, of Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation (AOK), is among seven free agent hockey players who have been invited to take part in the Saint John Sea Dogs training camp this month.
Mr. Assinewai, who is a forward, is joined by Cameron Low, Colby Morin, Darien Reynolds and Kency Pierre-Noel, along with defenceman Jordan Vidicek and goaltender Sebastian Monaco in attending the team’s 2023 training camp which opens this week.
The Sea Dogs are a major junior hockey team that plays in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Mr. Assinewai, 19, spent the past hockey season with the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) Greater Sudbury Cubs, registering 45 points in 33 games. The product of AOK played 46 games with the Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League the previous two seasons.
