M’CHIGEENG—The Manitoulin Secondary School (MSS) annual Christmas Shopping Spree held last weekend was the biggest and best ever.
“We had a total of 50 vendors on hand, which is the biggest total we’ve ever had,” stated Karlene Scott, one of the main organizers of the annual event which was held last Friday evening and Saturday. “We had a fantastic crowd of shoppers.”
There were so many vendors they filled the school’s gymnasium, front lobby and the hall area past the cafeteria. There was at least one vendor who set up outside the school at the main entrance area.
“I’ve never had a booth previously at this event,” said one vendor who did not want to reveal her name. “This is fantastic, there are so many shoppers here and as for the vendors, there is anything you could ever want in one place to shop for. It’s fantastic.”
The MSS shopping spree has been held on an ongoing basis for about 20 years and Ms. Scott noted the proceeds raised by the school for the event go to various school teams at MSS, the Share-Go Green Committee for activities and events, Three Fires Confederacy and wherever there is a need or cause in the school.
“This is a really good thing for the school and it is good to see so many people here this weekend,” added Ms. Scott.
