Annual fishing derby to be held in previous derby location

GORE BAY—For anyone taking part in this Saturday’s annual kids’ fishing derby, the Gore Bay and District Fish and Game Club (GBFGC) announced earlier this week the event will take place in its usual location this year and not a new location, as had been previously announced.

“We are going to be going back to our old location because of the snow conditions and slush by Wolsey Cabins,” stated Ches Witty, a member of the GBFGC, on Monday.

The derby will once again be held near the Lake Wolsey Bridge causeway as has been the case since the derby was first held.

The derby will take on Saturday, February 16, during the annual Family Day weekend. The derby will take place from 12 noon to 3 pm, with registration starting at 11 am the day of the derby.

The derby is free to enter and all participants up to the age of 18 are welcome.

There will be food and refreshments available during the day and prizes will be presented at the end of the derby.

For more information, call Ches Witty at 705-282-8047.
