MANITOULIN—Following a major malfunction, the Manitoulin Snowdusters’ east end groomer is up and running as of Friday night and fully operational.
“It’s out on the trails now,” confirmed Snowdusters’ spokesperson Brad Middleton.
Following a pinch hit by the West End groomer, the western groomer “has returned to its homeland on the West End of the Island,” Mr. Middleton added.
All snowmobile trails have now been groomed on the east end of the Island with the Manitowaning to Mindemoya trail the last to be groomed today (Monday).
“This now makes all the trails on the Island having been gone over at least once with the main trail from Little Current through Honora to M’Chigeeng and on to Mindemoya ‘double groomed’,” Mr. Middleton explained.
“We anxiously await the next significant downfall of snow, which should put the trails right into tip-top shape for the rest of the season,” he added.
The Manitoulin Snowdusters still cautions against snowmobile travel on the lakes, even if most of the inland lakes are now frozen over.
“The ice is still too thin,” Mr. Middleton warns.
