Angel Bus gets timely donation

GORDON—The Angel Bus has again this year received crucial funding from local businesses that goes toward keeping the bus operational.

Jeff Smith, executive vice-president of Manitoulin Transport and Manitoulin Group of Companies, presented a cheque in the amount of $5,000 on behalf of Manitoulin Transport (and New North Fuels, part of the Manitoulin Group of Companies), last week.

“It was Manitoulin Transport and Lafarge who provided the seed money for the Angel Bus to get it originally operating (in 2015),” said Ted Kilpatrick, of the Angel Bus committee. “It is what has allowed the bus to operate. We receive no operational funding (from the government).”

Mr. Smith told The Expositor, “We recognize the importance of the service to Western Manitoulin seniors and knowing that through the Angel Bus they can access medical appointments and cultural visits, through this transportation.”
