A word of appreciation for recruitment efforts

Retired physician lauds the work of nurse practitioners

EDITOR’S NOTE: This letter is in response to the April 15 front page story ‘Physician recruitment campaign is doing its job.’

Mr. Graham,

Although frankly amazed at the great efforts that have to be made to recruit physicians to an area with such obvious attractions, I am very pleased that there are signs of interest and the prospect of all of us having a family doctor may eventually be realized.

At the same time I would add my appreciation of the nurse practitioners who have filled many of the doctors functions in the interim and done so with such much care and attention. They have provided an invaluable service and I hope that they will remain.

Jim Strong

(retired physician)
