To the Expositor:
This letter is a reminder to all Islanders that the Canadian government will stop the circulation of our penny on February 4, 2013 and businesses will be expected to round bills up or down to the nearest next cent. For example, an article that costs $1.02 should now cost $1.00 and an article that costs $1.04 should be rounded up to $1.05 and so on.
For some time now, the volunteers at Manitoulin Family Resources have been collecting pennies as part of a campaign to raise funds for a larger thrift shop and food bank. We are extremely grateful to everyone who has donated their pennies and we ask others to keep us in mind as the Canadian penny era ends.
If you need someone to pick up your pennies, please call Kathy at 705-859-1007 or Betty at 705-377-6256. Thanks you.
