Sue Ramsdin enjoys meeting and assisting customers at Little Current clothing store Dreamer’s Cove, where she has worked for the past two years.
Ms. Ramsdin, who lives in Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation, is married with two adult children.
A long-time practitioner of traditional crafts, Ms. Ramsdin spends much of her free time doing intricate beadwork and crafting items out of leather—her beaded guitar straps have caught the eye of country music legend Carol Baker, who not only signed Ms. Ramsdin’s beautifully beaded memento strap at Manitoulin Country Fest a couple of years ago, but also ordered a number of the straps for her band members as well.
Among her many creations is a set of beaded leather mittens with a dolphin motif; a custom order for a veterinarian who specializes in dolphins—talk about a wide range of customers! But Ms. Ramsdin’s social media presence shows particular loyalty to her place of work, with numerous announcements of sales and items appearing that week in Dreamer’s Cove. But that is small wonder as Ms. Ramsdin expresses exceptionally high praise for her employer.
Yes, country music is one of her great joys in life, but Ms. Ramsdin’s greatest joy these days comes from interacting with her grandchildren. “They are the best,” she smiles.
