MANITOULIN – Rainbow District School Board (RDSB) approved a balanced budget of $211.9 million for the 2020-2021 school year at its regular meeting on August 18.
“Once again, this budget ensures the continuity of programs and services within the funding provided by the Province of Ontario,” said RDSB Chair Doreen Dewar. “The budget also reflects the terms and conditions of the new collective agreements.”
RDSB is projecting an enrolment of 13,492 students this fall. Enrolment projections consider historic retention rates, the flow through of each grade and information on population growth or decline.
A total of 74 percent of the budget, or $157 million, has been allocated to salaries and benefits.
RDSB operates 31 elementary school buildings and nine secondary school buildings in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island. On Manitoulin, these include Manitoulin Secondary School, Little Current Public School, Assiginack Public School, Central Manitoulin Public School and Charles C. MacLean Public School.
