Lucy Ann (Murray) Trudeau Waabshkeh Kwah Kwe, White Bear Woman, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones during a powerful night of thunder, lightening and rain. She is predeceased by her parents Steve Murray and Rose Lena Murray; sisters Elizabeth Murray and Sandie; baby brother Joseph and a baby brother who died in childbirth. She is survived by sisters Ellen J. Murray and (Lisa Neelin-Kimewon) and Martha Murray (Dianne McCulloch), and brother Alec A. Murray (Ramona). Also survived by her children Mellinda Trudeau (Ken Maracle), Delores Trudeau (Neil Naokwegijig), Verna Recollet (Bear), Laurie Trudeau, Ronnie Trudeau (Rita) and special children Victoria Trudeau (Bert Trudeau), Jean Oshkawbewisens (Grant Oshkawbewisens) and special daughter Ali-Jo Wemigwans. Also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who call her “Chi-Mamma”. Lucy Ann was born at the family home with the assistance of Violet Naokwegijig who became her godmother. Her childhood on Murray Hill was a life that included farming, having a garden, various farm animals which included their beloved family horses, and being surrounded by families who helped one another on Murray Hill. Her stories have always included childhood memories of adventures outdoors, playing together. “We’re stronger together” is how she described her continued connection with family and friends. Lucy Waabshkeh Kwah Kwe participated with the Rain Dance family, preparing feast contributions and was a Roman Catholic. She is also predeceased by her partner Ronnie (Fleo) Lewis, her granddaughter, goddaughter Leslie Rose-baa and granddaughter Nikki-girl baa. Sister Lucy, Mom, Mamma, Chi-Mamma will be remembered for her great love of community and all children. She had a way of seeing the humour in all things, a gift in making others smile and laugh, she radiated love. Her life work included babysitting children, craft making, custodian for Wikwemikong Nursing Home, supervisor in the auto making industry, bus driver for summer children’s camps, bus driver for forest firefighters, and her most cherished employment of 40 years as a school bus driver for the Wikwemikong Board of Education who was well known as their “Mamma” too and as “Lucy Bus”. There was a wake service at the Murray Hill homestead on Saturday, August 15, 2020 which commenced at 4 pm. There was a funeral service (outdoor) on Monday, August 17, 2020 which commenced at 11 am. Arrangements entrusted to Lougheed Funeral Home.
