EDITOR’S NOTE: This letter has been reprinted in these pages at the author’s request.

An open letter to Susan Schrempf and the Owen Sound Transportation Board:

Dear Ms. Schrempf, take the next step, do the right and honourable thing and resign. You have failed the people you are to serve. Hiding behind the fact that you wrote a letter two years ago is no excuse for the current situation, it’s simply passing the buck. Your mandate is to provide ferry service between South Baymouth and Tobermory and you have failed in that mandate!

If you choose not to resign, the OSTC should remove you from your position, as we the stakeholders have lost all confidence in your ability to protect our industry. The recommendations of the recent study on how to make the ferry service more viable in the future, is now basically a waste of money. Your actions/inactions on this matter has done more harm to Chi-Cheemaun ferry operations then a study can repair.

Sincerely,
Steven R. Shaffer
Mindemoya
