Orland Charles Truman Wismer

In loving memory of Orland Charles Truman Wismer, who passed away at the Manitoulin Health Centre, Mindemoya, on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the age of 93 years. Orland was born in Gordon Township to Charles and Louise (Morden). He had a natural ability in various trades and was a pipefitter in Elliot Lake for 10 years while still running the farm in Robinson Township, which he did for over 65 years. Orland was very active in his community and church serving on the Manitoulin Board of Education for Robinson Township, elder at St. Andrews United Church, chairman of Hall Board, member of Manitoulin Board of Trade and Manitoulin Cattleman’s Association and last charter member of Branch 514 Royal Canadian Legion. In his retirement years, Orland travelled widely throughout North America, Europe, Great Britain, Australia and Hawaii. Loving husband of Lois (Limbeek) and the late Bernice (Cockwill). Loving father of Lois Amy of Gore Bay, Eric (Judy) of Algoma Mills, Doug (Jane) of Silverwater, Lorna Cambria of Silverwater, Mavis Noble (Terry) of Gore Bay and Katherine Wismer of Sault Ste. Marie. Proud grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Brother of Arlene McQuarrie (John) of Gore Bay, Glennys McGibbon of Barrie and the late Merle Morrison (Lawrence). He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Friends visited at the Culgin Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 7 – 9 pm with Legion Service at 6:30 pm. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 11 am at St. Andrews United Church, Silverwater, with Pastor Erwin Thompson officiating. Interment at Silverwater Cemetery. Memorial donations to Mindemoya Hospital Auxillary and St. Andrews United Church, Silverwater, would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be left at www.culginfuneralhome.ca.
