(KILLARNEY, ON) – On June 22, 2020 at 12:00 p.m., members of the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an injured hiker in Killarney Provincial Park, in the Municipality of Killarney.
Investigation revealed a group of three people had hiked approximately 40 kilometers on the Silhouette Trail in the last three days when one of the individuals suffered an ankle injury. With a weak cell signal, they managed to place a call to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) who then contacted OPP.
With the assistance of OPP Aviation Services and Park Rangers from Ontario Parks, the group was located at 5:55 p.m. and extracted from the area.
The 26-year-old injured party, from North Bay, was treated by Paramedics with Killarney Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
