MINDEMOYA – The Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary and friends have now made well over 500 face masks to help the Manitoulin Health Centre (MHC) and other groups and individuals in the community looking for the protection they provide in the throes of the COVID-19.
“We have made over 500 (closer to 530 now) masks. Deb Graham of the Manitoulin Health Centre picked up 50 more last week,” said Judy Mackenzie, president of the Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary. “A lot of people who have been making the masks said if more were needed they would be willing to help out, so that is what we have and are going to do.”
Ms. Mackenzie said local groups and individuals have made 52 masks for Community Living Manitoulin (CLM) for 26 staff members.
As was reported previously, the Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary has, along with Little Current Hospital Auxiliary and the Little Current Quilt and Stitchery Guild, stepped up when the call came from the Manitoulin Health Centre (MHC) for those interested to make masks to assist health care staff and families locally.
Those wishing to make a donation or assist in the effort can contact judy-mackenzie@eastlink.ca by email. In Little Current, masks can be dropped off to admitting at the hospital or by calling Dawn Orr at 705-368-2608.

Ms. Mackenzie added if anyone is able to contribute fabric (cotton) or elastic (1.8 inch) it would be appreciated.
