A Wiikwemkoong man has been charged with possession of drugs by the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
On December 11 at approximately 11:54 pm, officers with the Manitoulin (Espanola) detachment of the OPP were conducting reduce impaired driving everywhere (RIDE) checks on Highway 17, in McKerrow.
Further investigation by officers revealed that the driver was suspended and in possession of suspected controlled substances. As a result, Dominos Manitowabi, 37 years old, of Wiikwemkoong, was arrested and charged with: possession of a Schedule 1 substance, cocaine; operation while prohibited; and drive while under suspension contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario (HTA).
The accused was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on February 3, 2020.
