MINDEMOYA – The Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary has made a donation of a beautiful bedspread made by a local resident to the hospital’s palliative care room.
Mary Alice Lewis, a member of the hospital auxiliary, told the Recorder the very interesting story that relates to this bedspread. “Marion Mason of Spring Bay had crocheted and made this beautiful king-size bedspread and had donated it to the hospital auxiliary a few years ago for us to use as a prize for one of our raffles.” However, “we were never able to find the person who won the raffle to present it to them.”
“I worked on this for a year or so, trying to track down the man who won the raffle,” said Ms. Lewis. “We tried everything we could to find the man who won.”
“At a meeting recently we discussed this and found out we couldn’t use the bedspread in another raffle and we needed permission from the municipality (Central Manitoulin, which had provided the licence to hold the raffle that the item had been won on), from Marion and the MHC (Manitoulin Health Centre) board to donate the bedspread to the palliative care room at the (Mindemoya) hospital. We’re sure it will be well used and appreciated.”
“I think everyone will love it,” said Dr. Maryna Harelnikava, who accepted the donation on behalf of the Mindemoya Hospital.
“This is the first time we have held a raffle and couldn’t find the person who was the winner of the prize,” said Ms. Lewis.
