Manitoulin OPP investigate break and enter in Tehkummah
On October 22, officers from the Manitoulin detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter at Ward’s Store in Tehkummah.
The break and enter occurred sometime over night between October 21 and October 22. Alcohol, cash and tobacco were stolen.

Manitoulin OPP arrest two for theft of truck
On October 21, officers from the Manitoulin Detachment of the OPP responded to the theft of a pick-up truck, which had occurred sometime overnight, from a residence on Dunlop Street in Sheguiandah.
An investigation revealed that the truck had been involved in a mischief at Manitoulin Secondary School.
Officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving the stolen vehicle on Highway 540 at Sheshegwaning Road in Robinson Township. The two occupants of the vehicle were unharmed in the collision.
As a result, an 18-year-old from Sudbury has been charged with: Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime; Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, in Canada, Mischief Under $5,000; and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.
As well, a 19-year-old from Sheguiandah First Nation has been charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, in Canada; Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs; Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus); Mischief Under $5,000; Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm; and Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime.
The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on November 27.
Manitoulin OPP investigate theft of truck from Mindemoya
On October 24 at approximately 12:15 am, officers from the Manitoulin Detachment of the OPP responded to a report of a stolen truck from a residence in Mindemoya.
With the assistance of the United Chiefs and Council of Manitoulin (UCCM) Anishnaabe Police, the truck was located in an apartment parking lot in Lakeview on M’Chigeeng First Nation.

Manitoulin OPP reminds the public to lock it or lose it
Sometime overnight between October 23 and October 24, the Manitoulin Detachment of the OPP received several reports of vehicles being entered overnight in Mindemoya.
In two cases, thefts of personal items were reported.
Vehicle owners can do simple things to decrease the risk of being victimized, such as: Never leave a running vehicle unattended; lock your doors; roll up your windows; keep valuables out of sight; pocket your keys; and always park in a well-lit area.
