Rachel Cécile Charette died peacefully at the Manitoulin Centennial Manor on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the age of 90. Predeceased by husband Romeo (1990). Beloved mother of Diane Kraft (husband Hans), Marie Claire Bruneau (husband Garry), Monique Berger (husband Charles), Raymond Charette (wife Claudette), Carmen Adam (husband Charles), Michele Stephen (husband Alastair), Carole Labelle (husband Maurice). Proud Grand-ma of Cindy Nyilas and Andrée Berko, Christine Tremblay, Renée Weber, Paul and Michael Bruneau, Shane, Charles and Jody Berger, Diana Charette, Ryan and Robbie Adam, Kathryn, Jennifer and Christopher Stephen, Eric and Elyse Labelle, and Great Grand-ma of Zoe, Jeanie, Emily, Ayda, Sebastien, Sophie, Madeleine, Olivier, Cameron, Lucas, Owen and Lexie. Predeceased by all her siblings Irene Godin, Roland Dupuis and Hervé Dupuis. Rachel was an accomplished woman, she was a credited artist, she was on the Board of the Manitoulin Health Centre, the Lions and the School Board. She was involved in the creation of the Haweater Coins. Together with her husband Romeo they operated the Anchor Inn Hotel and Restaurant. Prior to the Anchor Inn she was a teacher and foremost a mother. Visitation was from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Island Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was at 11 am on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. Burial at St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Donations to the Centennial Manor or the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted with Island Funeral Home, Little Current.
