Ense-Sloan team wins ladies’ open golf tournament at Manitoulin Golf

GORDON—The team of Norma Ense and Celia Sloan were crowned as 2019 champions at the annual Manitoulin Golf ladies’ open tournament held this past Saturday.

Ms. Ense and Ms. Sloan posted an 18-hole best score (scramble format) of 74 to take the top spot overall. 

“We hope everyone enjoyed the golf and tonight’s dinner,” said Myrna Thomas, clubhouse manager, at the awards ceremony held after the tournament had concluded.
As well as the Ense-Sloan team taking first place, other teams to win prizes included the third-place team of E.J. and Martha Murray, and the seventh place team of Paula Bailey and Leslie Debassige.

Special prizes were also handed out, including for the shot closest to the pin won by Norma Ense, the longest drive won by Allison Idle and the closest to the rope prize won by Amy Wright.

There were a total of 14 teams participating in the tournament and there was a $5,000 hole-in-one prize up for grabs (for the 13th hole) donated by H and M Mini-Mart.
