Manitoulin Sea Cadets off to summer camp

MANITOULIN – It’s that time of the year when selected cadets from the Manitoulin Sea Cadet Corps make their way to cadet training centers for summer training. This year, seven cadets are heading to Kingston at HMCS Ontario Summer Training Center and one will be going to Blackdown Army Cadet Summer Training Centre near Barrie.

Able Seaman Savannah Crack will be spending two weeks of general training in Kingston. Petty Officer 2nd Class Dayna Beauchamp will be taking part in basic drill and ceremonial for three weeks, also in Kingston.

Able Seaman Benjamin Pangowish will be spending two weeks in general training in Kingston.

Master Seaman Declan Allison will take his basic sail for three weeks in Kingston.

Able Seaman Rhys Allison will take two weeks of general training in Kingston while Leading Seaman Chloe Otosquaiob will take three weeks of basic fitness and sports at Blackdown.

Able Seaman Lydia Pennings will spend two weeks of general training in Kingston.

Petty Officer First Class Quentis Wood will be spending the summer working in Kingston as a cadet staff member while Miranda Mackay (Retired Chief Petty Officer First Class and Coxswain) is also spending her summer working in Kingston as a staff member.

They, along with hundreds of other cadets across the province, will spend the next two to three weeks learning new skills that they can bring back with them at the corps and making new friends. We wish them great success and lots of fun this summer.
