Manor Auxiliary News

As this is our first news column, I thought it was only appropriate to provide a little background to the auxiliary.  Our purpose is to enhance the wellness of the individuals that reside at the Manor and to partner with the Manitoulin Centennial Manor to promote awareness to all Island communities.

The auxiliary consists of eight members who meet nine times a year to plan and execute the activities for the year. Anyone interested in joining the auxiliary is welcomed. This past year, the auxiliary has been very busy decorating and volunteering at various functions such as the Christmas party and family dinner, Easter, Mother’s Day tea, providing a tuck shop service to the residents, catering to a retirement dinner and renovating and decorating the palliative care room which re-opened on June 4. The auxiliary would like to thank the generous people who stepped forward and donated furniture and small appliance items for the room.

We would also like to thank everyone who continues to donate to our memoriam fund on behalf of their families, loved ones and friends. Without your donations, we would not have been able to renovate and decorate the palliative care room or continue to do the things we do on a regular basis.

Our next adventure for this summer will be organizing items for the Canada Day yard sale and bake sale that takes place annually on July 1 at the Manor. Your support in donating your items to our yard sale and providing your favourite baking items to our bake sale are much appreciated by the auxiliary and the residents who benefit from the profits. The funds raised through our various fund raising events and the memoriam funds is used towards enhancing the lives of the residents by purchasing birthday and Christmas gifts for them, purchasing flowers to beautify the entrance and purchasing  lawn furniture to just name a few.

Our last regular meeting was on June 18 at 1 pm in the board room at the Manor.
