C.C. McLean hosts fruitful Jump Rope for Heart event

GORE BAY—The students at Charles C. McLean Public School in Gore Bay recently jumped their way to successfully promoting heart health.

“Jumpers should be very proud of themselves and their community of friends and family for their donations made to support life-saving heart and stroke research,” said April Patterson, Grade 4/6 teacher at C.C. McLean and one of the main organizers of the annual event held at the school.

A total of 43 participants skipped at recesses to have fun and promote a heart healthy activity.  Of those, 32 fundraising participants raised a grand total (online and offline) of $5,191.95.

The top three fundraisers included Gage Patterson who raised $502, Faith Harris who raised $438 and Alexis McVey who raised $378.

Helping to run the Big Jump Event that took place for participants last month was a great leadership opportunity for students in Ms. Patterson’s class.
