(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – On Monday, February 2, 2019, at approximately 8:30 p.m., members from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were requested to check on the well-being of a male at a residence in the Township of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands, Ontario.
On Tuesday, February 3, 2019 Manitoulin OPP, with the assistance of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF), located a burned residence with a deceased person inside.
The identity of the deceased has been confirmed by the Coroner’s Office, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS) and the Centre of Forensic Science (CFS). He has been identified as Jason MABBOTT, a 47-year-old male from the Township of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands, Ontario.
The fire is not considered suspicious at this time.
