Jack White rink wins annual Mindemoya mixed bonspiel

MINDEMOYA—The Jack White rink has won the annual Dr. Jack and Mary McQuay Memorial Mixed Bonspiel, hosted by the Mindemoya Curling Club this past weekend.

Mr. White was skip of his rink which also included vice Angela Johnston, second Mike Johnston and lead Lisa White. They defeated the Marilyn Proulx skipped rink, with vice Dan Proulx, second Susan Whynott and lead Rich Whynott in the first event. 

For their efforts in winning the first event championship, the White rink was presented with the Dr. Jack and Mary McQuay Memorial Mixed Bonspiel trophy, which had been donated by Jan and Betty McQuay. Jan McQuay presented the trophies at the awards ceremony on Sunday.

In the second event, Skip Reuben Allen and his rink defeated the Doug King rink. Mr. Reuben’s rink included Joanne Mellan, Rob Mellan and Sharon Allen. The Doug King rink included Cathy King, Robert  and Daisy Moise. 

The Stewart Simpson skipped rink won the third event. His rink included Sheila Bray, Scott McDougall and Karen McDougall. Runner-up was the Darren Smith rink which included Kyra and Al Lanktree, and Pauline King.

The convenors for the Dr. Jack and Mary McQuay Memorial Mixed Bonspiel were Ken and Janet Stewart, and Debbi Graham.
