Growers Pesticide Safety Course
Northland Agromart is also going to be hosting a Growers Pesticide Safety Course at the Gordon Hall on February 2. Lunch and refreshments will be provided at the course. The cost is $105 to register. Registration is at the Agromart and can be done over the phone or in person. Those who are currently certified and looking to renew, or those who have expired certification can attempt to challenge the test, but must score 75 percent to pass, however, it is recommended to attend the instruction period. Course manuals are available at the Agromart or the OMAFRA office free of charge. SNAPP grant
SNAPP grant program accepting applications February 11 – March 29, 2019: Intake 5 applications to the Sustainable New Agri-Food Products and Productivity (SNAPP) grant program will be accepted from February 11 – March 29. *New* – please note that only a limited number of projects will receive funding for this intake. Because of this, we ask that applicants contact their regional program coordinator (contact info below) to obtain an application form. All projects must be completed by December 31, 2019. The SNAPP Program supports Northern Ontario agriculture and food producers, businesses, collaborations, communities and First Nations to create new products, extend the growing season, enhance productivity, and adopt clean technology to support improved environmental performance while fostering business growth. Up to $5,000 for single applicants at 75 percent cost sharing, and up to $15,000 for collaborations of three or more entities at 75 percent cost sharing. Eligible projects include: Productivity Enhancement Stream – projects that increase efficiency of business operations, New Products Stream – projects that create new products, Season Extension Stream – projects that help extend the growing season or extend the availability of products, Clean Tech in Agri-Food Stream – projects that adopt clean technology to improve environmental performance.
