GORDON-BARRIE ISLAND—Members and charter members of the Manitoulin Island Country Club (MICC) will be attending a meeting to vote on whether they want to exercise the first right of refusal or allow for the sale of the MICC to a prospective purchaser.
“We will have a meeting where members and charter members will vote on whether they will opt for the first right of refusal or allow for the sale of the golf club to a potential purchaser,” Brian Bainborough told the Recorder last week. He will act as facilitator of the meeting set to take place on June 27 at 8 pm in the MICC clubhouse. The vote will take place as part of the MICC annual general meeting that same evening.
As was reported in the June 15, 2018 edition of the Recorder, the municipality of Gordon/Barrie Island has begun the process of divesting and selling the Manitoulin Island Country Club (MICC) to a prospective purchaser.
“We as council have decided to divest of the MICC (Manitoulin Island Country Club) assets and are about to enter negotiations with a prospective buyer to ensure the long term viability of the MICC,” Lee Hayden, reeve of Gordon-Barrie Island, told the Recorder. He noted the club and charter members need to vote on the first right of refusal clause. The MICC members must decide if they will exercise this option.
