‘The Other Mother’ by Carol Goodman

‘Accidental Heroes’ – A decorated former Air Force pilot, a pregnant flight attendant, and a dedicated TSA agent: the fates of these three, and many others converge in this heart-stopping thriller that engages ordinary men and women in the fight of their lives during a flight from New York to San Francisco. The reminds me of the way Danielle Steel use to write in the beginning – a good read.

‘Red Alert’ – The one who knows the secrets is the one who holds the power. Can NYPD Red find the truth before a city on red alert explodes. The richest of New York’s rich gather to raise money for those less fortunate. The mayor with Detectives Zach Jordan and Kylie MacDonalf of the elite NYPD Red task force providing security is on hand to applaud the new plan for public housing.  A fatal blast rocks the room, stirring up horrifying memories of 9/11. Is the explosion an act of terrorism – or a homicide? And so the story begins…

‘The Room on Rue Amelie’ – The smallest acts of courage are the ones that change the world… When newlywed Ruby arrives in Paris in 1939 with her French husband Marcel she imagines strolling arm in arm along the grand boulevards, awash in the golden afternoon light. But was is looming on the horizon, and as France falls to the Nazis, her marriage begins to splinter too. Rich with historical drama and emotional depth, this is an unforgettable story that will stay with you long after the final page is turned.

‘The Escape Artist’ – Nola is the US Army’s Artist-in-Residence, a painter and trained soldier who rushes into battle making art from war’s aftermath and sharing observations about today’s wars that would otherwise go overlooked. Zig works at Dover Air Force Base, helping put to rest the bodies of those who die on top-secret missions. Together, Nola and Zig will either reveal a sleight of hand being played at the highest levels of power or die trying to uncover the US Army’s most mysterious secret – a centuries-old conspiracy that traces back through history to the greatest escape artist of all: Harry Houdini.

‘The Other Mother’ – Two new mothers. Two babies named Chloe. One giant web of lies and deception. “It wasn’t supposed to be like this.” That’s what Daphne says at the first meeting of her new mothers’ group. Daphne is wildly in love with her baby, but she’s also plagued by fear and self-doubt. So when her fellow new mother Laurel strikes up a friendship, Daphne is thrilled. Laurel, whose daughter is also named Chloe is everything Daphne isn’t: confident, charismatic, and sophisticated. She encourages Daphne to join her gym, highlight her hair, and eat kale salads and soon the two women start to look alike, dress alike, and talk alike. But Daphne realizes only too late that being friends with Laurel will come at a price – one that she might be willing to pay…a good read.
