‘Winterdance’ by popular author Gary Paulsen is a look at how man endures against nature. This is the remarkable chronicle of Paulsen’s most ardent adventure. He would train and run a dog team in Alaska’s most famous sled race—the Iditarod—not once (1983), but twice (1985). It is a fact that running dogs can become an addictive pursuit. It also requires a strong dedication, an incredible bond/trust with your dog team and a thorough knowledge of the dangers of the race landscape. This is a great read!
It is not well-known that avocados, apples, mangoes and tomatoes can be grown right at home for free from the pits that we generally throw into the compost pail. ‘Plants From Pits: Pots of Plants For the Whole Family to Enjoy’ by author Holly Farrell gives the reader a very well-researched and nicely illustrated guide to growing a garden from kitchen scraps. It includes information on everything you will need from the science of how plants grow to pest control. It is a book for ages six to 60 and truly highlights the joys of watching things flourish.
David Baldacci is a distinguished and much read author. His Camel Club series featuring operative Oliver Stone is very popular among readers. Baldacci fans will enjoy ‘Hell’s Corner’ another adventure that finds Stone teamed with a British MI-16 agent. Together they must corner their enemies as they worry about who they can really trust in a world where nothing is really what it seems to be.
Danielle Steel’s novel ‘The Apartment’ is the story of the chance meeting of four women in New York City and the adventures they share as they live in the same apartment. It is a story that highlights the very true reality that friendships are often more lasting and reliable than family.
