The District H region is large, stretching from Parry Sound to Sudbury through Espanola, the Island and on past Sault Ste. Marie to White River in the west. The competition included the winning representatives from each of the four age categories from the three zones within the district. Competing from Branch 177 in Little Current was Cassandra Kuntsi (Senior Grades 10-12), Xavier Mara (Junior Grades 4-6) and Eric Wahl (Primary Grades 1-3). Competing from Branch 514 in Gore Bay was Mason Leighton (Intermediate Grades 7-9).

Xavier placed second in his category with his speech about “Nothing.” Mason speaking about “Laziness,” Eric speaking about “Shopping Trips” and Cassandra speaking about “Leaving the Nest” all placed first and will be moving on to the Area Competition which will be held in Espanola in early April. The winners at the Area Competition will move on representing Northern Ontario at the Ontario Provincial Speaking Competition to be held in Trenton Ontario in early May.
