St. Patrick’s Day is a well-known day of celebration in our community and this year it falls on Saturday, March 17, 2018, meaning that the majority of the community will be more inclined to participate in day-long festivities.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind community members that your safety and the safety of our community is our top priority. That being said, we ask that those participating in St. Patrick’s Day festivities do so inside of licenced establishments or residences. Consuming alcohol on City streets is an offence and individuals doing so, can be issued a provincial offence ticket and/or arrested and charged under the Liquor Licence Act. Consuming alcohol on our City streets is not only an offence, but poses a significant risk to your personal safety and the safety of those around you. Our City streets are used by other pedestrians, motorists, public transit and emergency services in order to access other areas of Greater Sudbury.
Our Officers will be out during the day, night and into the wee hours of the morning conducting Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) checks and patrolling our streets in order to ensure our community members are being safe and responsible.
Please make sure you plan ahead, have a Designated Driver, use public transit, call a taxi or stay the night. We want everyone to have a blarney good time.
